It’s been a while since we’ve officially heard from the Jazwares MGS team.
So we ran past the NDA blockade to contact our Bothan spy on the West Coast, and know the scoop on Micro Galaxy Squadron Series 7.
Several Bothans were sacrificed to bring you this important information.
Note that unless officially confirmed by Jazwares and Lucasfilms, the intel may be subject to change.
When can we expect new reveals for Micro Galaxy Squadron Series 7?
Expect a new vehicle or two to be revealed within the next two weeks, before the end of July.
Apart from that, there will be new designs unveiled next year, on March-April and May-June.
What vehicles can we expect for Series 7?
Without giving too much way, the Series 7 lineup will have:
- 1 from the Prequel Trilogy (hint: revenge)
- 1 from the Sequel Trilogy (hint: awakening)
- 1 from a Disney TV series (head tails)
Notes:
There will be other vehicles in the wave, but these are the noteworthy ones.
They may be unveiled this month, or spring 2025.
As with future wave developments, the release calendar is not yet finalized. The ships may be part of Series 7, or they may be pushed back to the next wave based on several factors.
In addition, there is one more product that is part of an upcoming TV series, but it’s still in the planning stage (Editor’s note: this will be discussed in a future post).
Will there be a Micro Galaxy Squadron SDCC Exclusive this year?
I am not able to comment on that. Any hard reveals have to officially come from the Jazwares marketing team.
But if they can, fans should visit the Jazwares booth in San Diego Comic-Con 2024, which will take place on July 25-28. Jazwares will be at Booth 3513, beside Bandai and right across Hasbro.
Those who have secured their Comic-Con badges should also visit the SDCC Online Exclusives Portal, which will host this year’s exclusive merch.
Jazwares has confirmed that they will be participating in the online exclusives portal once again.
The website will be up until July 18 only, and there’s no telling whether any MGS SDCC exclusives might make an appearance there.
So reserve your points and stay sharp!
What can we expect in the next Micro Galaxy Vault release?
I am not at liberty to discuss future releases for Jazwares Vault.
There has been a notable lack of communication from the MGS team compared to last year. Can you give us an insight on the future of Micro Galaxy Squadron?
The Micro Galaxy series is very alive and well at the design studio. In fact, future waves are being planned up to 2 years in advance.
When Jazwares was acquired by a new parent company at the end of 2022, this gave them more capital to pursue bigger offerings like the upcoming MGS Ghost, as well as new initiatives like the direct-to-consumer Vault.
As with many toy manufacturers, the logistics partnerships and retail distribution are the bigger headaches, not the capital investment.
There has been a corporate reorganization within Jazwares to accommodate its growing portfolio of IPs. The company recently acquired its newest IP license (Five Nights at Freddy’s) and sealed a partnership with a California-based confectionary brand. As a result, some IPs like MGS may see less marketing and publicity, but rest assured the series continues to be developed behind the scenes.
On a related note, last month Jazwares signed a major licensing deal with Paramount, giving it access to iconic franchises such as Star Trek. This means there will be a new line of Trek-focused products, possibly as early as next year. But what form or categories these products will take is still in the exploratory stage.
(Editor’s note: The recent Star Trek licensing deal is only for North America and covers “costumes and accessories”, so this would likely exclude any MGS-style ships and vehicles, at least for now).
Finally, Jazwares will be opening its 5th European office, this time in Spain. This will allow the company to directly supply retailers in the Iberian region.
