MGS Review: Phantom Shuttle

micro galaxy phantom shuttle

The Phantom Shuttle is a Starfighter-class ship from Series 6. It is based on the Spectre’s Phantom auxiliary ship in the Star Wars: Rebels series.

This ship was acquired on June 26 from Target Topanga in Los Angeles. However, it’s not yet for public sale and there is no official release date.

The Phantom comes with Ezra Bridger and Chopper. The paint app for both figures are fantastically detailed, down to the webbing on Ezra and on Chopper’s discolored droid body.

Out of the box, the ship comes with light weathering on the wings. As with all of the later Series models, Jazwares has reduced the weathering and heavy panel lining.

Top view with wings closed. The ship can benefit from a light wash on the wings, to highlight the detailed panel lines.

Notably, there are no retractable landing gear like with most MGS starships. This is because the Rebels series has never shown the ship’s landing skids. However, Jazwares still made a detailed underside.

Note the six pegs that allow it to dock with the larger Ghost mothership. Jazwares even replicated the bottom hatch used in the show.

Despite being part of the Starfighter-class, this vehicle has more interactive features than the fighter-sized ships in its line. These include:

  • Opening cockpit that sits one figure
  • Accessible compartment with peg
  • Opening wings
  • Twin laser cannons
  • Rotating rear turret
  • Astromech socket for Chopper

The panel for the main compartment can be removed, like in the Arvala.

Those twin thrusters look to be the perfect size for MGS microlights.

Compared to the 3.75-inch version from Hasbro, Jazwares’ Phantom is accurately scaled, more detailed, has has a better interior, and realistic weathering.

With a retail price of $14.99, the Phantom is a fantastic buy with all its moving features. Plus, it’s a must-have addition for the upcoming Ghost!

Trivia: While most sources call the Phantom a shuttle, it’s actually classified as an “auxiliary starfighter

Special thanks to my girlfriend Inca for acquiring this ship before the streetdate and for the awesome photos! Thank you my Inx 🙂

Target needs to stop with this streetdate nonsense. If its out on the shelf we should be able to buy it

I was able to buy a Phantom and Fang Fighter today on the 28th even though they weren’t in the system. The manager at my Target in San Jose, CA went to customer service, then came back and manually put in the price for both and I was able to get them.
