The MGS version of Din Djarin’s N-1 Starfighter from The Mandalorian TV series was just revealed a few minutes ago.
In a livestream hosted by actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee (who plays Captain Carson Teva on The Mandalorian), Jazwares Sr. Product Manager Maxwell Lux showed off the N-1 model on April 24.

The packaged N-1 from Paul’s livestream, held by Product Designer Gihoon Song. The tail is so long so it was made to be detachable.

Grogu is too small so he is permanently fixed in place.
While the Mandalorian screen version had no landing gear, the team made a tricycle landing gear that closes flush against the body.
The packaging for the N-1. Since Jazwares has a habit of using artwork to preview future models, there’s a 99% chance there will be a Captain Carson X-wing in the future.
Other highlights:
- The Din figure is sculpted in beskar armor.
- The team used a new process to produce a realistic metallic-looking skin for the N-1 complete with sheen, despite the model being plastic.
- Since it wasn’t shown on screen, the team had to design the landing gear from scratch. It was a challenge to make it fit flush against the body while making it easy to grasp with fingernails to open.
- The MGS landing gear is totally different from the Action Fleet Naboo Starfighter landing gear.
- Because of the N-1’s pointy ends, the team had to make sure the rear isn’t an impalement risk. So there’s a good chance it’s made of flexible rubber like the Gauntlet’s twin prows.
- It was originally supposed to be a rare, but is now a common ship due to its popularity.
- The team is already exploring an N-1 variant with Grogu in Din’s lap and R5 in the dome.
Also in the livestream was MGS product designer Gihoon Song. Max revealed it was Gihoon who was pushing for the Star Destroyer, even creating a cardboard cutout of it on his weekend to convince the company brass.
The N-1 was previously teased during Jazware’s Wave 5 panel discussion in Star Wars Celebration Europe. It was shown as part of a slideshow, but there was no mention of the N-1.
Today’s announcement coincides with Disney’s Mandomania, a weekly Mandalorian showcase that takes place every Tuesday on the official Star Wars website. Paul’s N-1 livestream pre-empted the Mandomania reveal, so we can expect the N-1 to be featured in greater depth on Starwars.com later.
To date, the closest N-1 model is the Mission Fleet version from Hasbro. However, it comes in a slightly bigger scale and the proportions are cartoon-like. It’s also slightly more expensive at $23.
The Mission Fleet N-1 has 2.5 inch figures, making it much larger than Micro Galaxy’s 1-inch figure scale.
You can watch the replay of the livestream on Paul’s Youtube channel, Bitterasiandudeinc. Also, do subscribe to his channel. Not only is he a Star Wars canon character now, he’s also an MGS fanatic with no less than 4 Havoc Marauders and a whole wing of Outland TIEs!
We’ll update this entry once official images and more product information becomes available.
We will also have a separate article on all the other announcements made during the livestream. So stay tuned!
