Rebel PUG (Personnel Utility Groundcart)

Do you know what all these MGS starfighters need? A classic troop cart!

I modified one of the Lightyear Hyperspeed ground vehicles to give our MGS figures some flightline transportation. After all, they need to be well-rested before their combat sorties!

The PUG (Personnel Utility Groundcart)

Type: Personnel carrier (repulsorlift)

Affiliation: Rebel Alliance

Manufacturer: Custom

Capacity: 1 driver, 7 passengers

When the Bothans joined the Rebellion, they demanded a greater presence in the Alliance hierarchy. After all, many Bothans died to bring them information.

This gave the Alliance brass a headache. How can they bring the diminutive species into the ranks? When asked by Princess Leia for his thoughts, Han Solo replied “I don’t know, put ’em in charge of something useless that sounds important. Like safety.” So the Bothans formed the OSHA committee (Operational Safety and Hazards Assessment).

One of OSHA’s first tasks was to redesign the PUG, the Alliance’s ground cart. Why, they asked, was it the same color as the surroundings (olive drab at Yavin, white in Hoth)? Ground service equipment should be highly visible in the flight line. OSHA decreed that all PUGs should be orange, to make them easier to see for all species, not just humans.

“They had you update your will too? I got a bad feeling about this.”

Next, OSHA found that ground personnel developed hearing and breathing problems from being too close to starfighter engines. Therefore PUG was given an enclosed cab to provide drivers with hearing and lung protection.

Finally, the Bothans gave the PUG a higher ground clearance. As their leader Borsk Fey’lya said, “A groundcart is useless if it gets stuck on a pebble. You don’t need a dozen Bothans to know that information.”

Thanks to Bothan redesign, the ground cart was much easier to see and no longer got stuck on pebbles .

Where to Buy

This vehicle is part of a two-pack, with the other being a Jeep-type vehicle (which I’m also currently customizing). I bought it on Amazon for under $7.
